The first thing to do to support HLAA is to join HLAA. Just go to www.hearingloss.org and select "Join or Renew" from the menu on the left of the page. You'll be taken to a page which allows you to choose a membership type that suits you and then allows you to join on-line using a secure connection. It's easy, convenient and rewarding.
When you join, you'll become part of the most significant organization in the world for people with hearing loss. You'll be supporting HLAA's efforts to improve things on many levels ... including accessibility, technology, education and advocacy. You'll also receive the HLAA "Hearing Loss" magazine, which will keep you informed about the world of hearing loss.
HLAA is "self help" ... except for a small number of dedicated employees in the national office, everything done by HLAA is done by its volunteer members. You can contribute you time and energies to help meet HLAA goals.
Join a local chapter: There are several local chapters across the North Carolina. If there's one near you, (Find a Local Chapter), then go to the meetings and volunteer to do something. There's always plenty of things to do. You'll find your involvement could be that opportunity you've been looking for to give back something ... and you'll find that there's a tremendous amount you can personally gain from your involvement.
Start a Local Chapter: If you don't live near an active local HLAA chapter, then start one. There's help available; Email Dianna Attaway, North Carolina HLAA State Coordinator.
Get Involved with NCHLAA: North Carolina was the first state to have an HLAA State Association. It's our way to help HLAA reach its goals at the state-level. If you're interested, Email Dianna Attaway, North Carolina HLAA State Coordinator.
So many people with hearing loss are not aware of HLAA and how much it can help them. If you know someone who needs HLAA, then tell them about HLAA and invite them to get involved.
