Join HLAA

The first thing to do to support HLAA is to join HLAA. Just go to www.hearingloss.org and select "Join or Renew" from the menu on the left of the page. You'll be taken to a page which allows you to choose a membership type that suits you and then allows you to join on-line using a secure connection. It's easy, convenient and rewarding.

When you join, you'll become part of the most significant organization in the world for people with hearing loss. You'll be supporting HLAA's efforts to improve things on many levels ... including accessibility, technology, education and advocacy. You'll also receive the HLAA "Hearing Loss" magazine, which will keep you informed about the world of hearing loss.

Get Involved

HLAA is "self help" ... except for a small number of dedicated employees in the national office, everything done by HLAA is done by its volunteer members. You can contribute you time and energies to help meet HLAA goals.

Join a local chapter: There are several local chapters across the North Carolina. If there's one near you, (Find a Local Chapter), then go to the meetings and volunteer to do something. There's always plenty of things to do. You'll find your involvement could be that opportunity you've been looking for to give back something ... and you'll find that there's a tremendous amount you can personally gain from your involvement.

Start a Local Chapter: If you don't live near an active local HLAA chapter, then start one. There's help available; For more information about starting a new HLAA chapter in NC, contact the HLAA Chapter Coordinator, Elizabeth LeBarron at: elebarron@hearingloss.org or phone her at 301-657-2248, ext. 101.

Get Involved with HLA-NC: North Carolina was the first state to have an HLAA State Association. It's our way to help HLAA reach its goals at the state-level.

Bring a Friend

So many people with hearing loss are not aware of HLAA and how much it can help them. If you know someone who needs HLAA, then tell them about HLAA and invite them to get involved.

Donate Money

A Non-Profit relies on donations from people who care about its mission.

At the National Level: There are many rewarding ways you can donate money to HLAA listed at the Donate Page of the HLAA web site. Check them out and see if one is right for you. Donations to HLAA are tax deductible.

At the State Level: You can donate to HLA-NC and feel comfortable that your contribution will be put to good use ... and your contribution is tax deductible. Donations of $100 or more will qualify you for a free advertisement on these web pages (see Become a Sponsor, below). To make a donation to HLA-NC, just email the HLA-NC Treasurer, Deborah Stroud.

At the Local Chapter Level: You can donate to any HLAA Chapter in North Carolina. These all-volunteer chapters always need help to fund local programs. They have no dues and invite all interested people to attend and learn more about hearing loss. Many local chapters have federal EINs to certify that donations are tax deductible. Donations of $100 or more will qualify you for a free advertisement on these web pages (see Become a Sponsor, below). To make a donation to a local chapter, just email the appropriate contact for the chapter (see the Chapters Page.

Become a Sponsor

HLAA needs sponsors willing to help fund projects. At the national level, you can help HLAA fund broad projects that can make a real difference for people with hearing loss.
