Focus On Hearing
Silent Auction

Hearing Loss Association of North Carolina

About the Silent Auction

We're conducting a Silent Auction covering both days of the Hearing Loss Association of North Carolina's Focus on Hearing conference. It's a great opportunity for businesses, chapters and individuals to help people with hearing loss and have fun at the same time. If you're attending the conference, it's a great opportunity for you to bid on the donated items; you may win both ways, by contributing to this important cause and by taking home some great craft or merchandise that you've won.

Businesses and individual alike are invited to donate items for the Silent Auction. For the business, this gives you opportunities to share what you have to offer. It may be a Gift Basket, Gift Certificate or Specialty Item from your company. This is an excellent way for bidders to get to know your products. For individuals, BE CREATIVE, show off the skills of someone in your community or chapter by bringing handmade items or items that are crafted or products in your areas.

What to Donate

Lots of things qualify as great Silent Auction items. The items may be products, services, craft items, artwork, or almost anything of value. We'd like to have things that people will get excited about and bid on.

If you're a business, you may have a product or service you can donate that will reflect positively on your company, remember bidders are going to be competing for your donations and that says they want your products and they know where to get it. Anything can be donated, it doesn't have to be something related to hearing loss, but it can be that too.

If you are a chapter or an individual, you can purchase a product or service, or get a local business to donate something on your behalf. Restaurants may consider donating "dinner for two" certificates, other businesses might consider donating gift cards. You may also wish to donate a nice craft item or artwork; Groups can cooperate on projects like a quilt or knitted items.

Becoming a Donor

It's easy! Just fill out the form and send it in. You can also send the item in to the address provided, or if you'll be attending the conference on Friday morning, you can hand carry items that would be difficult to mail.

Encouraging other Donors

As an individual or as a chapter project, you may be able to encourage businesses, especially businesses you deal with, to donate something to this good cause.

The following link will let you view and print a letter that introduces Hearing Loss Association of North Carolina and the Silent Auction and explains the process. You can send that letter with the Silent Auction Donation Form to busineses or you can personally give those items to businesses that might want to donate. It doesn't have to be about hearing loss.

The Silent Auction Process

Attendees at the conference will be able to browse the items in available for the Silent Auction. The donated items will be arranged on a table at the conference from early Friday through noon Saturday.

Cards beside each item will describe the item and recognize the donor. Details on how to participate will be posted here and at the conference. Winners of each item will be posted on a board at 2 pm on Saturday.

It's fun! And you could "win" one or more of the great things people and companies will be donating. When you particpate in the Silent Auction, you benefit, of course, if you win, but no matter what, you'll be helping HLA-NC help people with hearing loss.
